Testimonials

"I love how you love what you do!"
A client made this exclamation during a project that was a beautiful collaboration between SPBA, the structural engineer, contractor and sub trades who all worked together from the design process right through to completion.

"Susan's creativity and investment in the details, combined with a highly collaborative process, ensure the very best solutions for her client's needs." -KH

"We use the new rooms all the time and the garden room you designed, is by far the best room in the house. We love its fireplace and radiant heating, and like to sit and watch the snow accumulating outside. We use the new breakfast room much more than the older dining room, and have been very happy with that space and the adjacent new kitchen." -ND

"What I love about working with Susan is her enthusiasm for the project and her very careful oversight of every aspect. Even two years after the project was finished, she was still checking in to see how it was working..." -LC

"Susan is a respected colleague and mentor, and I recommend her enthusiastically. Her designs blend modern sensibility with traditional design, while seamlessly integrating with the natural environment. Susan is a great listener and interpreter of the client’s needs, attentive to solving real world problems, and always cognizant of budget and constructability. She is timely in project delivery, easy to coordinate with and develops long lasting relationships with clients." -JG

"Susan designed a complete renovation of our Princeton home in the mid 1990s. She was, from the first meeting, sensitive to our needs and desires for the house, and definitely followed through in every way. She worked closely with the contractor, seeing to every detail, and the result was perfect! Some years later, Susan was back, this time designing an attached apartment for my mother who was, at first, reticent to move in with her kids! Susan spent quite a lot of time with her and won her over with a beautiful one-bedroom apartment that displayed her lovely art and furnishing, while at the same time, giving her independence and privacy. Susan also designed an office addition which balanced the apartment extension and which we added a bit later. These three pieces flowed seamlessly into each other while also allowing us flexible use of the house. It was a joy to work with Susan in every way." -RE

"The church that I attend in Bay Head purchased an adjoining building and needed an architect to join the two buildings in some efficient and attractive way. This would not be an easy undertaking, as the original church building was over 100 years old and described by one of our Episcopal Bishops as having been constructed in the "Jersey Shore Gothic Style". The adjacent building was a single-family house. The onerous task of developing an architectural plan to satisfy the aesthetic need of the Church and surrounding community that also had to be functional for the Church's purposes, was given to Susan Pikaart Bristol.  Her studio competed the architectural plans and supervised construction. The result was tremendous."   - PS, Chair of Long Range Planning
"Susan transformed two small spaces into a large beautiful, light-filled family room with custom woodwork, bookshelves, raised ceiling and brick fireplace. Even though this project was of limited scope, her design work completely changed our home. Her design has made the family room our favorite place!" -SP
